Rather than providing a general speech and language evaluation, this assessment is designed to identify the specific speech sound challenges your child is experiencing and determine the most effective place to begin therapy.

Whether you choose to continue services with B.Spoke Speech Therapy or another provider, you'll leave with a clear understanding of your child's speech needs and individualized recommendations.

What does a Comprehensive Speech Sound Assessment Include?

Every child is unique, so each assessment is tailored to your child's specific speech concerns and needs. Depending on your child's age, history and speech sound patterns, the assessment may include:

1. Parent interview and review of speech/developmental history

2. Evaluation of speech sound production and error patterns

3. Analysis of articulation and phonological processes

4. Assessment of speech intelligibility

5. Stimulability testing to determine which sounds your child may be ready to learn

6. Assessment of oral motor skills as they relate to speech production (when clinically appropriate)

7. Review of previous therapy history, if applicable

8. Clinical observations during structured and conversational speech tasks

Unlike a general speech and language evaluation, this assessment focuses specifically on how your child produces speech sounds, why errors are occurring, and what treatment approach is most likely to help them make progress.

Following the assessment, you'll receive:

A detailed written report

A summary of assessment results

Individualized therapy goals

Recommendations for treatment frequency and duration

Recommendations for next steps

Your Options After the Assessment

The assessment is completely independent of ongoing therapy.

After receiving the report, you may choose to:

Begin individual therapy with B.Spoke Speech Therapy

Enroll in a B.Spoke R Intensive (if appropriate)

Take the report to another speech-language pathologist or clinic

Share the report with your child's physician or school team as appropriate

There is no obligation to continue services with B.Spoke Speech Therapy after the assessment.
